The new section will practically double the Oklahoma City park’s size to an impressive 70 acres and will offer a soccer field, basketball courts and pickleball courts, plus a performance area and a sports pavilion. The soon-to-be-opened section of the park will also host a Nature Playground with plenty of shade for families to explore the native wildflowers and grasses.
Hundreds of newly planted trees are scattered throughout the addition, which will also have a lighted promenade with a variety of walking trails connecting to the Oklahoma River Trails.
Brochure printing services are often called upon to help promote city improvements to both residents and those who might be considering relocating to the area.
Myriad Gardens Foundation and Scissortail Park Foundation CEO Maureen Heffernan gave her opinion on the addition, saying:
“The Core to Shore vision of creating a vast green space, connecting the downtown core to the river, further transforms our city as a highly desirable place to live, work and visit.”
The addition will officially open on September 23 with a weekend celebration hosted by The Scissortail Park Foundation, MAPS 3, and Oklahoma City to take place September 23 to 25.
