The passage of House Bill 4012 and its signing by Governor Kevin Stitt, has ensured that the structure designed to honor The Oklahoma National Guard’s 45th Division will proceed as planned. The 60-foot-wide arch will be 30 feet in height and comprised of limestone; it will have a granite base.

Designed to replicate the Oklahoma Capitol’s exterior, the arch will also contain emblems and carvings created to celebrate the 45th Division, which has a long history of service on the state and federal levels.
House Bill 4012’s author Rep. Mark McBride said:
“I just think it is an awesome way to honor those who have served and protected our freedoms since before statehood.”
Per the Office of Management and Enterprise Services the arch and its accompanying 100-seat amphitheater and a veteran’s park are anticipated to be finished within two years after the start of construction. Within the veteran’s park will be statues representing groups of those who served in the 45th including African Americans, Native Americans and women, according to Senator Brenda Stanley.
So far, $4.3 million for the project have been allotted by the Oklahoma Legislature, with additional monies expected to come from private funding sources.
