Paycom Software will receive $1.2m from the Oklahoma City council to expand its headquarters by adding another office building on Memorial Road.

The city is using the money as an incentive for Paycom to create more than 400 extra jobs with salaries averaging around $50,000 – a move it hopes to finalize within the next five years.

According to The Alliance for Economic Development of Oklahoma City President Cathy O'Connor, developing adequate jobs in the area is important so that families in the area are able to settle in Oklahoma City.

Since little federal money is available, the city must use local money. The project will use bonds that are from a $835m initiative put together a decade ago to fund several public works, such as libraries, roads, police, and fire services. One tenth of the program consisted of bonds totaling $75m.

Chad Richison, Founder and CEO of Paycom, demonstrated the company’s pledge to improving Oklahoma's economy while expanding itself throughout the nation. He expressed the company's gratitude to be able to work with the city. However, Ed Shadid, Ward 2 Councilman, disapproved of the deal, pointing out that the bonds were supposed to be for public works and that the state should be responsible for paying the incentive.

More offices means more employees who might need business card printing services. Working with a local printer for bulk orders may yield a discount.
