Griffin coming to Oklahoma City Thunder

According to Frank Vogel, Adrian Griffin, the assistant coach for the Orlando Magic, is resigning and will be taking a position on the Oklahoma City Thunder. He will be part of Billy Donovan's team as the lead assistant.

When head coach Scott Skiles left abruptly last season, the Thunder considered Griffin for the job since he was well qualified. General managers of the NBA say he stands out in the league as an assistant and a top pick for a head coach.

Vogel hoped to keep Griffin so his staff from last year was similar. He stated that he will look at other possible coaches and the staff still has some star members. Vogel wishes Griffin the best. Much of his team will stay in Indiana along with Nate McMillan, the new coach. The path Vogel will take in hiring new staff is unclear although some names are in the running and he plans to disclose his decision later in a press release. He is searching for three people who can work together as assistant coaches. He might hire a fourth and other coaches to develop the players. Last year, Skiles had two development coaches and four assistant coaches.
