The Oklahoma City Community Foundation, through its Opportunities for Children iFund grant program, has awarded the Oklahoma City (OKC) Ballet a grant of $20,000.
The funds will be used for the BRIDGE Dance Discovery program of the OKC Ballet. Local Print shops can help spread the word about such grants and their benefits for the community with Flyers and other printed materials.
The BRIDGE Dance Discovery program focuses on mentorships, programs, education, and partnerships to serve the community and promote diversity and inclusivity within the organization. The goal is to create a connection to the ballet and demonstrate its impact on the lives of people within the community. Dance Discovery is part of all aspects of the organization, including the Yvonne Chouteau School, the professional company, and its community engagement programs.
Each year, the program offers ballet instruction onsite to those students with limited resources and opportunities to take part in arts-related extracurricular activities. It collaborates with Boys and Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County, elementary schools in the metropolitan area of Oklahoma City, ReMerge, and local libraries.
Jo Lynne Jones, OKC Ballet John Kirkpatrick Executive Director, expressed her pleasure at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation’s support. Jones added that the Dance Discovery program involves hundreds of children every year and provides them with an educational and fun music and dance experience, while also engaging them in much-needed exercise.
