Oklahoma City will host the 2020 Grand National and World Championship Morgan Horse Show.
The best Morgan Horses have been on display at the championship and show for over four decades. Every year, the city hosts the event in the middle of October. This allows for show professionals to come from all parts of the United States with equal opportunity.
Over 5,000 fans of Morgan Horses come to the state fairgrounds for the Grand National. Awards and prizes will equal over $300,000 in 2020. It will go toward the teams of more than 1,000 horses from 45 states and four countries.
Professional Development and Academic Scholarships totaling at least $5,000 will also be available for those who have applied for the Alex Mooney Memorial Scholarship. Officials will contact the winners on September 1 and announce them at the show.
Eligible candidates for the academic scholarship are undergraduates enrolled in a technical school, trade school, college, or university whom have worked with Morgan horses. Candidates that have backed research and the community surrounding cystic fibrosis are optimal. It is common for officials to mail scholarship winners using unique letterhead.
Detroit was the location of the first two Grand Nationals and horse shows in 1973 and 1974. It moved to Oklahoma City in 1975. This year, the event will begin on October 10 and have shows at 9am, 1pm, 7pm until October 17. Check the official site to confirm closer to the time.
