The Arts Council of Oklahoma City is hosting a week of celebrating art, which is still going ahead at the time of writing.
An array of art media will be on display during The Festival of the Arts. Performers, chefs, and visual artists will show off their talent at the Bicentennial Park.
The festival started in 1967, and is one of the Arts Council's biggest events of the year. Seeing in springtime, it is a celebration of the community and art. Around 750,000 people attend the festival.
Dean Imel's sculpture, Regal, is the featured art piece for 2020. It combines the color violet with the reoccurring theme in his work – movement. A kinetic sculpture in Beverly Hills inspired Imel. He says that moving objects catch the attention of the observer. Regal’s movement involves spiral and circular motion.
The Arts District Garage and 444 West Reno are available for free parking. Street parking is limited but there are several paid parking garages in the area. The Oklahoma City streetcar stops close to Bicentennial Park so it is a viable option for transportation. Festival information will be available at the Colcord Drive headquarters.
The festival is on April 21 to 25 from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm and on April 26 from 11:00 amto 6:00 pm, rain or shine.
