A cultural festival will be held in Youngstown this summer, allowing visitors to learn more about Slavic heritage while sharing cultural cuisines and traditions in town.
The 15th Annual Simply Slavic Festival has announced a location and date for this year’s gathering, with the experience slated to be held across three days. Attendees will get to experience a wide range of enlightening and entertaining displays, including the parade of flags, polka music, folk dancers, and the annual tapping of Rodina Beer, courtesy of Modern Method Brewing Company.
The festivities will kick off on Friday evening, finishing with a live musical performance by No Funk No Justice, a local group that plays a mix of funk, disco, pop, and rock music. Saturday will feature several dance performances, including the St. Nicholas Russian Youth Dance Group and the Living Traditions Folk Ensemble. Organizers can use banner printing to create colorful welcome Banners that suit the festival while promoting it to passersby.
The musical performances will pause for an intermission scheduled for the Vatra Lighting Ceremony. Sunday will feature a Welcome Ceremony, a Mascot Showcase, and more polka performances before the festival’s closing remarks.
The Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre, located on South Phelps Street, is hosting the three-day festival from June 26 to 28, at 5:00 PM. Admission is $5 per adult, and kids under 12 enter for free.
