Youngstown youngsters enjoy an Easter egg hunt

Hundreds of children from all parts of Youngstown came out last weekend to enjoy an Easter egg hunt. St. Dominic’s Church, in partnership with the ICU Block Watch and New Bethel Baptist Church, organized the event.

The intrepid hunters were split up into groups according to their ages, and went looking for the eggs that could bring them prizes, including candy, coupons, and bicycles, all donated by generous community members.

Bobbi Tubbs, a Youngstown resident, said the hunt was a “wonderful thing for the community”. Gregory Maturi of St. Dominic’s agreed, calling it a “great community-building event”, adding that a healthy activity like this can only be good for the children. The hunt was so well-received thatSt. Dominic’s plans to hold similar events every year.

There were three other hunts in Youngstown that weekend, one of which took place at the Heritage Presbyterian Church. Hunters were also on the prowl at the Wick Park Neighborhood Association Easter Egg Hunt and the Community Easter Egg Hunt at Wedgewood Park.

Fortunately, for those who missed all four, there is still another hunt in the future. It will take place this Friday, April 18, at noon, at ESA Park Apartments, 1110 Kendis Circle. Volunteers will be provided by Victory Christian Center.

Organizers of the upcoming hunt could work with a flyer printing company to create handouts to distribute, making sure children and parents know about the event.
