Chef Rebecca Poletti became known for her skills as a baker when she owned Mangia Cakes Cafe, but recently celebrated her first year as the owner of a full-service restaurant, the Youngstown Galley. She is fighting being typecast as a ‘pastry chef’.
At her Lewiston cafe, Poletti was famous for her pies, scones, cookies, and delicious breakfast items. In Youngstown, she has branched out to include lunch and dinner. Items on the menu at the Galley include comfort foods such as gourmet burgers, homemade fries, salads, stuffed meatloaf, chicken and biscuits, and a fish fry on Fridays.
She also is putting an Italian accent on things, featuring typical fare like chicken cacciatore, gnocchi, and lasagne, all made with popular sauces such as Bolognese and vodka sauce. Poletti says the Italian dishes seem to be her strong point. When businesses like this celebrate a milestone, they could distribute Promotional Products to thank customers for coming to mark the occasion, and to increase brand recognition.
The Galley boasts a full bar, and Poletti says patrons are surprised when the see the selection of wine and beer she offers. She also special promotions, such as ‘Wine Down Wednesdays’, where people can relax.
In spite of her success, Poletti hasn't forgotten her roots, and offers a full breakfast including goodies like vanilla brioche French toast. She notes that some of her Lewiston patrons come to Youngstown to enjoy her food.
