The reality show "Bar Rescue” will be in the Youngstown area for the second time soon.
Spike TV is getting set to rescue Martini Brothers, a burger restaurant in downtown Youngstown.
According to sources, Martini Brothers got a makeover earlier this month. Jon Taffer, who is a nightlife and bar-management expert, is the host, and he and his team visit bars around the country, both to give them physical makeovers, and to uncover poor business practices.
On August 10, Youngstown residents spotted members of the production team in a parking lot behind the burger bar, while other crew members were in front of the building. Although the network has yet to confirm that Martini Brothers will be its next project, there were cameras in the bar the weekend before.
In addition, the crowd was informed that Monday night would comprise a “stress test”, in which people are packed into a place, and the staff members are evaluated on how well they handle the pressure. If they need to improve, those ideas are discussed as well. Reaction to the presence of the television crews has been positive.
City officials might like to build on this success by working with brochure printers on a booklet the film commission could make available to other production companies, highlighting the Bar Rescue group's good experience, and suggesting Youngstown as a location for other film and television projects.
