The Fellows Riverside Gardens, located at the north end of Mill Creek Park, is welcoming visitors to the 14th year of its customary Winter Celebration.
Among the attractions are an area in which children can learn about the connection between plants and food, as well as 46 Christmas trees given an individual touch by local organizations. The main attraction is ‘Gingerbread Lane’, at the Davis Center. The center has been decorated with life-size gingerbread houses and gingerbread men, leading to a complete transformation.
Lynn Zocolo, who spoke on behalf of the gardens, said they try to do something fun and different each year, and thanked volunteers for making Gingerbread Lane possible.
Fellows Riverside Gardens, which is a public space, comprises a twelve-acre site at Mill Creek Park's northern end. The garden features colorful and diverse displays of plants, all classes of roses, and seasonal displays, such as the winter festival now underway. Other plants, including flowering and shade trees, ground cover, and shrubs, combine to create smaller gardens within the main garden itself. More than 400,000 visitors come to see the gardens each year.
The Winter Celebration runs from now through January 4. Park management might consider working with a professional banner printing company to create an appropriate seasonal banner to mount at the entrance to Gingerbread Lane.
