Students at Ursuline High School in Youngstown have a completely renovated classroom to enjoy during their study of science.
On October 15, students were able to start using the room. When they got there, they found it had been given a total makeover, including new furniture and equipment. The floors were redone, as were the walls, whiteboards, and cabinets, and an intriguing wall treatment was used to enhance the surroundings.
Jennifer Depizzo, who teaches chemistry, will be the faculty member using the room most often. She says the upgrades are important, because they keep students up to date on the latest developments in technology, as well as keeping the school on the cutting edge of educational improvements.
Approximately 100 students, ranging from sophomores to seniors, are expected to use the new classroom. They will be able to perform experiments on lab benches, but will also perform other activities in order to use the new equipment to its fullest capacity.
School officials might consider working with leaflet or brochure printers to create a booklet describing the new classroom, as well as the programs the school offers. The booklet could be made available to new residents who are interested in learning about the city’s schools, in order to help them decide which would be the best fit for their children.
