Session explores bats in Youngstown

A nature school session is being planned for Youngstown youth, providing facts and inspiration for young learners as autumn approaches.

The Nature School: Bats session is set to get underway next month. It will provide a learning opportunity for students in the Youngstown area to discover more about nature, with October’s theme focusing on bats. The learning session aims to dispel fiction about bats and share the natural facts about the nocturnal mammals. It will focus on the importance of bats to the surrounding environment, and the role they play.

The gathering is geared toward children between seven and ten years old, and a legal guardian or adult must accompany all registered guests. WildYou, an organization designed to bring Ohio youth closer to the nature around them, is planning the event. Poster printing is an exciting way to raise awareness of such events and inspire children to learn more.

The topic will include stories, crafts, and outdoor activities. Parents are encouraged to check the weather to ensure comfortable clothing for their children. Local parks are used as classrooms, so the event may be canceled in the event of severe or inclement weather.

The Paul Pogony Pavilion will be the host site for the learning session, which is scheduled for Saturday, October 12, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. Tickets are available online, starting at $15 per child.
