Return of City of You campaign made possible by $30K windfall

A $30,000 grant has been awarded to Youngstown by the Ohio Mayors Alliance to resume the City of You promotional campaign.

The alliance has awarded money, totaling over $200,000, to Youngstown and six other cities that are participating in Ohio’s Complete to Compete challenge, which is to have 65% of the state’s working-age individuals with either a four- or two-year degree or credentials from a trade school by 2025.

The City of You campaign focuses on Youngstown students who are on the path to college and the Mahoning Valley’s school-to-work partnerships, as well as the wrap-around social services of which they can avail themselves. In a statement, Mayor Jamael Brown said:

“We need to make sure young people know about the help they can get to realize their educational goals.”

Educating the public on reliable state programs can be done via flyer printing, but for complex issues, brochure printing often offers the best results.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s, partnering with the AT&T Foundation and the Mayors Alliance came up, with the Mayors Education Advocacy Grant program.

A highly qualified workforce is key to Ohio attracting good jobs. It is anticipated that in the years to come, two thirds of the state’s jobs will entail some type of post-secondary education. Lumina Foundation’s ‘A Stronger Nation’ ranks Ohio at 36th out of 50 in education attainment.
