The Youngstown Press Club will be hosting Jacob Schriner-Briggs at this year’s first Speaker Series event.
The topic for the first event will be “Democracy, the Constitution and Freedom of the Press.” Specifically, Schriner-Biggs will be discussing the part of the First Amendment that refers to the press. George Nelson, the president of the Youngstown Press Club, commented:
“The Youngstown Press Club is pleased to kick off our 2023 programming slate with this program focusing on the role journalism plays in a democracy, at a time when both institutions are under fire.”
Schriner-Briggs graduated from Youngstown State University in 2017 and from Yale Law School in 2021. After that, he worked as a lawyer for Ballard Spahr LLP, where he represented journalists who reported at national and state levels. Schriner-Briggs currently holds the post of Press Clause Fellow at Yale Law where he works on issues related to the freedom of the press. The Press Clause Fellowship at Yale Law School is a project that focuses on the First Amendment’s Press Clause. Poster printing can be used to prepare for events like this.
The event will be held at Concept Studio at 217 W. Federal Street on Tuesday, March 7 from 1:30 pm. Tickets for the event are selling at $20 for Youngstown Press Club Members and $25 for non-members. Lunch is included in the ticket. Seats can be reserved at the Youngstown Press Club’s website.
