Ohio job fair draws 2,000 participants

Thousands of people seeking employment turned out on Monday, June 9th for a job fair to staff Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course.

According to a June 10th article, the event was held at Austintown Plaza in a former Fashion Bug site. The fair aimed at filling approximately 400 positions, both part-time and full-time, that are needed to staff the dining, gaming, and entertainment facility set to open this fall.

Among the jobs available are positions in food service, accounting and finance, surveillance, and environmental services, among others. About 65 per cent of the positions are full-time and offer benefits; others are jobs in which workers will be tipped. When combined with salaries, tipped workers could earn between $30,000 - $40,000 at the entry level.

Scott Frost, marketing director for the venue, said he expected about 2,000 people to show up, and that 1,600 had applied for jobs online. He noted the establishment was looking for people who would ‘fit’ with their culture, and that there wouldn’t be any one-on-one interviews until the third callback. Several applicants expressed their belief the facility would bring Youngstown back to life.

Hollywood Gaming should work with a business card printing company to create cards for its new employees. The firm might consider digital Business Cards, which can be printed quickly and in small quantities, yet are sharp, clear, and professional.
