Nature center welcomes spring

Children in Youngstown can welcome spring with various educational, nature-based activities.

The Ford Nature Center will be hosting three spring-themed events for children.

First, kids, from ages 8 to 12, can take part in a ‘Spring Fling' where they can make seed bombs, go hiking, and enjoy the sights. Individuals should pack a lunch. Registration costs $20 for residents and $25 for nonresidents.

Children, aged three to six, can discover interesting information about earthworms at ‘Wiggly Worms’. During this event, kids will learn about the eating and breathing habits of these beneficial garden creatures. Registration costs $5 for residents and $7 for nonresidents.

Finally, little ones, from ages two to three, can attend ‘If you Plant Them, They will Grow’. Here they can learn more about planting through activities and a story time. Registration runs $5 for residents and $7 for nonresidents. A guardian needs to stay with kids at this event.

No doubt the nature center utilizes brochure printers to make pamphlets for visitors. The Brochures could highlight some of the educational programs the center has to offer.

The Spring Fling will take place on April 8 from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm. Wiggly Worms will be held on April 10 and April 11 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Finally, the planting workshop will take place on April 9 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am and on April 11 from noon until 1:00 pm.
