Per the press release issued by the school, the average student’s cost will be reduced by 68% each semester. The tuition waiver will apply to both its downtown Youngstown campus and the Steubenville campus. Books and applicable fees will still be paid by the students. The waivers will be limited to $3,200 each student for each academic year for the next two years. A projected 2,500 students will be eligible.
Summer is a busy time for printing services; as college graduates are in the market for resume printing as well as Business Cards once they have landed a job.
During its summer semester EGCC was able to make use of federal CARES Act funds to offer free college courses. The 2020 summer semester enrollment, when compared to the 2019, had a 44% increase at the Youngstown Campus and for the Steubenville Campus there was a 32% increase this summer. As Michael Geoghegan, EGCC president, explained:
“Community colleges have an obligation to be responsive to opportunities we see around us.”
To be eligible for the free tuition, a student must live in the service district and have filled out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for 2019-2020, and turned in an EGCC online application.
The fall semester is scheduled to start August 17, 2020
