French Company’s expansion into U.S. market starts at YBI

Nanoe, a French manufacturer of ceramic and metal filament needed in 3D printing, hopes to obtain a foothold in the United States market from its start at the Youngstown Business Incubator (YBI).

Nanoe specializes in the creation of fine oxide ceramic powders that are high purity, and metals that are turned into the filament required in the 3D printing process. The filaments are currently produced in France; however, in the future, the company hopes to do some of that manufacturing in the U.S.

CEO of Nanoe, Guillaume de Calan, explained in a quote to The Business Journal saying that it makes 3D printing filament more accessible to ordinary manufacturers by feeding it into affordable desktop printers.

With Nanoe’s help customers are able to cut the lead times on their product development by expediting prototyping with the materials designated for the final product.

Based in Paris, the company employees 15 workers in France. However, over here, only one Nanoe employee, so far, needed to have Nanoe business cards printed. That single employee is operating from the incubator. According to De Calan, throughout the year there are plans to hire more employees for engineering, marketing and business development.

Internationally recognized, the Youngstown Business Incubator program concentrates on companies in the Mahoning Valley doing software development and additive manufacturing.
