The company is called Trivium and it anticipates spending $20–40 million developing a handful of additional product lines by the close of the coming year. Trivium produces cans for beverages and cosmetics. Close to 90 jobs might be generated by the additional production. The income taxes from additional employment would be reimbursed to Trivium as a grant at a rate of 75 percent in 2024, 50 percent in 2025, and 25 percent in 2026. Printing services can be used to help with presentations.
Kyle Miasek, the Finance Director for Youngstown, commented to say:
“They contacted us because they had read how the city had assisted with Steelite in generating a job creation grant agreement.”
At the committee meeting, four council members were present and none of them voiced any opposition to the Trivium grant idea. The entire council is anticipated to review the plan at their next meeting in the coming weeks.
The committee had a chance to listen to Beverly Posey, the director of community development, who requested that $8 million from American Rescue Plan's money set aside for Youngstown be used to construct new homes and renovate existing ones.
