Campaign supports returning students in Youngstown

The Salvation Army of Mahoning County and Premier Bank have joined forces to make sure children are well-prepared for their studies as the new academic year begins.

This collaboration gives people the opportunity to support kids in preparing for their return to school. However, their needs go beyond just paper and Pens. The Salvation Army, in collaboration with Premier Bank, is organizing a collection drive for gently used or new shoes as well.

The ongoing collection drive serves to support students in all grades attending Campbell and Youngstown City Schools. The Salvation Army emphasizes the significance of every child having an opportunity to begin the school year on the right foot. These generous contributions can make a meaningful difference in these students' lives, empowering them to thrive academically and beyond. Promotional Pens and similar products are often well-received by schools.

The Salvation Army’s area coordinator, Major Paul Moore, commented:

“Kids go to school so many times, and they feel like they haven’t fit in, or they feel like their friends have more than they do. So, we want to make sure everyone starts in the fair, even level, make sure all kids have a chance to get the education and get what they need in life.”

According to Major Moore, in the past few years, the demand for assistance in the community has risen due to factors like inflation. Notably, schools have expressed a pressing need for one essential item – pencils.
