Brewery relocates and offers start-up a leg-up

The Penguin City Brewing Company is moving to a larger location, and once renovations are complete, it will be sharing the new venue with a newly established wine and cider producer.

Penguin will be moving into the old Republic Warehouse in downtown Youngstown, which it purchased in December 2020. The new Federal Street location will house not only a brewhouse but also a bar and restaurant, according to Penguin City Brewing owner Aspasia Lyras-Bernacki.

Before renovations, the public was invited in to have a look around for a “before” view of the factory.

Currently the company is putting the finishing touches on the outdoor areas, in addition to being in the process of relocating from the B&O Station to the old Republic Warehouse. Print shops provide a beneficial service to those starting or relocating a venture by supplying personalized business Stationery or Business Cards.

Since beer and craft ale lovers do not account for all of its clientele, the Penguin City Brewing Company has arranged for D.O.P.E. Cider and Winery to share the new location. D.O.P.E. stands for Dwelling On Positive Energy, and its owner Hannah Ferguson, who will provide Penguin’s patrons with alternatives to beer, will be one of the state’s first black females to be a cider and winery owner.

The plan is for Penguin City Brewing and D.O.P.E. Cider and Winery to open this fall.
