In a press release from the YMCA of Youngstown, CEO Tom Gacse said:
“We need strong support from the communities we serve as we take the lead on issues such as chronic disease prevention, safety around water and summer learning loss.”
Stressing the Y’s commitment to young people, the community and its neighbors, Gasce went on to enumerate the many ways in which last year’s campaign had benefited over 4,000 people. Funds raised enabled Summer Day Camp, the YMCA’s Livestrong, and financial help with memberships, as well as Youngstown Swims, which in conjunction with the United Way and Youngstown City Schools, taught over 700 youngsters to swim.
Many organizations with a goal of helping the public find that their services are not fully utilized by both those who need them or understood by those who can provide the funding, in either of which cases brochure printing may provide a solution.
This year’s goal is $720,000, and all contributions go to fund YMCA programs. Donations to the annual fundraising campaign are tax deductible. Corporate donations can be made by calling Marykaye Carlson at 330-742-4797, while individuals wishing to contribute can do so online at the Youngstown YMCA site.
