Park district anniversary hike to take place in Medina

A hike commemorating the 55th anniversary of Medina’s park district is scheduled to occur at Mugrage Park this summer.

Mugrage Park was originally founded when Beverly and Richard Mugrage donated their land to the park district. The park was named after Richard’s mother, Carolyn Ludwig Mugrage.

This 102-acre park contains multiple perks, including a fishing pond and pier, a playground, a one-mile gravel trail, a one-mile paved trail, an open-air shelter, picnic tables, and a dog park that contains two divisions, a one-acre area for small dogs and a six-acre area for large dogs. Along the paved trail, the Medina County District Library collaborated with the Medina Park District to create several platforms along the trail that contain pages of a children’s story book for kids to read during walks. Each season, a new story will be available.

This milestone celebration involves a one-hour public hike with a naturalist during which Medina locals can learn about the history of Mugrage Park. This event is free to the public and does not require registration. The organizers of such events often use poster printing as an effective way to spread the word to those who are interested in participating.

The Mugrage Park hike will be hosted on Saturday, June 20 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
