Medina welcomes new selection of shops

Several shops opened or relocated in Medina recently, bring officials and residents alike to opening celebrations.

Medina Funtastic Toyz relocated, and Molly's Fashion Boutique opened, both in the same building. Dinah and Ed Wright own the two businesses, which he said work hard to provide unique, high-quality goods that people can't find online, or at big box stores. He thanked Medina residents for continuing to patronize small, local businesses.

The second-story rear of the building once housed offices of the Medina City Schools Board of Education, but is now home to Medina Funtastic Toyz. After the board moved out and the toy shop moved in, Molly's Closet was in the space for a time. That business has been renamed Molly's Fashion Boutique, and relocated to the front of the building on the ground floor.

This game of musical businesses was undertaken after a number of the boutique's customers said they had a difficult time climbing the stairs. However, Wright said, youngsters seemed to enjoy climbing the stairs to get to the toys.

The fun did not stop there, because the day also saw the opening of another shop nearby – Candy Apple & Company. Debbie Stevens is the owner, and has about 70 different toppings for her apples, which can be wrapped individually and given away as party favors.

All in all, it was a good day to be in Medina's downtown, where banner printing can create decorations for celebrations like this.
