Forever Amber Acres in Medina will be holding an activity in June where wounded veterans can experience equine therapy.
Introduction to Equine Therapy is a program from the Wounded Warriors Project for those who have suffered a physical or mental injury while in the military, and also includes their caregivers. The purpose of the activity is to show attendees what equine therapy looks like in group and individual environments. The session will involve an obstacle course where participants must team up with fellow veterans and horses to accomplish goals.
Forever Amber Acres is a registered non-profit group that provides a safe refuge for animals while helping people who are struggling with emotional and physical challenges. Several programs are offered by the organization, such as equine-assisted psychotherapy, equine-assisted learning, and corporate team building. The group even provides professional coaching sessions. Non-profit facilities similar to this may use printing services to make marketing materials that share their cause with others.
The session will be held on Saturday, June 25 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Attendees should wear weather-appropriate attire and put on footwear that covers their entire foot. The horses are not trained to respond to guests in any particular manner and will only react to the energy given by the participant. Visitors should also not attempt to “bribe” the horses with food during the session.
