There are a number of projects underway this summer in the Medina City School District. Work will be finished by the time the next academic year starts.
One of the most noticeable projects is the replacement of Ken Dukes Stadium's artificial turf. The stadium is located at Medina High School. Workers had removed the old turf by the end of June, then laid the pad and foundation for the new turf, which has now been installed, leaving the stadium in perfect shape for the new academic year.
Another stadium project is updating the field's lighting. Lake Erie Electric workers have been busy bringing the electrical system and lighting up to code. The renovation includes reworking all light switches and creating a control system that allows remote operation of the lights. Since work is also being done on the light poles, workers will put new bulbs in all the lights.
Some other summer projects include repairing the cupola at Garfield Elementary School, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. In addition, six classrooms at Garfield will be transformed when open cubbies replace their metal lockers.
At Fenn Elementary School, crews are installing two ceiling fans in each classroom to help cool the building and improve air circulation.
Finally, a number of metal doors will be replaced at Claggett Middle School.
Efforts like this can benefit if official work with a newsletter printing company to create an informative letter for parents.
