An ‘Imagine Medina’ campaign has been set up to help the city in its efforts to attract more business.
Kimberly Rice, Medina’s Economic Development Director, says city officials are setting out to create a plan for redeveloping the downtown that will take advantage of opportunities that arise in the local marketplace. OHM Advisors, a consulting firm, has already been hired to help in the planning, and residents can submit their ideas at a meeting to be held later this month.
Rice wants to hear what sort of stores or other types of businesses locals would like to see moving into Medina’s downtown. Residents are also asked to share any ideas they might have for the redevelopment process. Residents’ comments will be considered before the plan is finalized. City officials want to adopt it before July, at which time they will apply to the state for a grant.
The projects that officials are most interested in getting underway include renovating the Farmers Exchange Building, the Chamber of Commerce building, and the Moose Lodge and its parking lots.
Medina officials could work with a flyer printing company to create a mailer for Medina residents, explaining the redevelopment process and urging them to attend the meeting, which takes place on May 27, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at City Hall.
