Medina looks for artists to brighten neighborhood

Medina is on the lookout for talented people who are interested in decorating the city for fall, but the deadline is rapidly approaching.

It is time to dress up the Medina Historic District by creating seasonal displays in the neighborhood's famous flowerpots. At the moment, some of the flower arrangements usually seen in the district have disappeared, leaving only bare dirt behind. However, visitors can be certain that soon, Halloween and fall decorations – including autumn flowers, scarecrows, witches, and skeletons – will be back.

Boyert's Greenhouse is partnering with Main Street Medina to sponsor the flowerpot decorating contest, an annual autumn event. Anyone who is interested in getting in on the fun is welcome to participate. This includes individuals, families, community groups, and businesses.

There is a total of 60 pots in the district, over 36 of which have been reserved. The original deadline to enter the contest has been extended, and interested parties can still claim one of the remaining pots.

A jury made up of three members of the community will judge the flowerpots, looking for imagination and beauty. The arrangements need to have appropriate content and be family-friendly, so should not frighten children. Decorations have to be firmly anchored so that they will stand up to weather. Banner printing can be used to create additional fun decorations for venues like this.

The final deadline is this Tuesday, October 1, and Gift Certificates will be awarded for first, second, and third place.
