Main Street Medina recently held its 2018 Annual Meeting & Awards Celebration, electing officers, honoring those who are making a difference, and celebrating a successful year of making Medina a community people enjoy, according to a Cleveland.com article.
After a light luncheon, Steve Ferris, the chairperson of Main Street Medina, welcomed attendees and introduced Dennis Hanwell, the mayor of Medina, who congratulated the group for its ongoing efforts on behalf of the city. Celebrations like this can be enhanced when organizers use banner printing to create decorations.
The first order of business was to propose new members for the board of directors, and new officers for the group. The entire slate was elected unanimously. Then Cups Cafe's Tim Van Arsdale, the guest speaker, talked about his cafe's mission of serving hope, “one cup at a time.” The shop is making a difference in the lives of young people, since as many as 40 teens visit the store after school each day.
The Best Commercial Renovation Award went to Mia and Ryan Rose, who own 17 Public Square Restaurant. The Roses preserved many of the building’s historic features, but upgraded the kitchen and bathrooms, and installed new seating and lighting, transforming the dining room.
Four other awards were given: the Best Residential Renovation Award went to Nancy and Jim Gowe, while Root Candles won Business of the Year. Eric Stasioski was named Volunteer of the Year, and Roger Smalley received the Spirit of Main Street Medina Award.
