The Medina Creative Therapy Ranch, located on Lake Road, recently held a fundraiser. Their Fall Festival included costume contests, pumpkin painting, hayrides, horseback rides, and even a “trick-or-treat trail.” All the money raised at the event goes to support the ranch.
Hot dogs were grilled by volunteers, who also sold gifts and baked goods. After the festival, attendees enjoyed a clambake, and so many people came that drivers had to park down the street in a special overflow lot.
The therapy ranch comes under the umbrella of Medina Creative Housing (MCH), an organization helping disabled adults live in the community, but on their own, while providing support to them. This is the 25th anniversary of the organization.
MCH own and runs 16 group homes, and has constructed 28 garden apartments. The organization also offers employment opportunities and vocational training for its clients.
A number of those who ride horses at the ranch are autistic, and learning to ride and handle the animals has helped them gain confidence, and interact successfully with others. One of the ranch's clients said that thanks to learning to ride, her son has gained self-confidence and is more willing to explore the world. Now they are able to take family vacations and have an enjoyable time.
Outdoor events like this can be even more fun if organizers work with a banner printing company to create colorful Banners to decorate the venue.
