Homes open for the holidays in Medina

Spectacularly-decorated homes will be open for the holidays in Medina.

The Medina Community Design Committee Annual Holiday Home Tour is on the schedule, and people interested in architecture, home décor, or holiday decorations have a chance to peek inside seven gorgeous homes, all located in Medina’s historic neighborhoods.

The McDowell-Phillips estate is included in the tour this year. The 14-room home, which was built in 1890, has seven fireplaces, and a view of the village square. It has been in the McDowell family since it was first built, but they are leaving the city, and will be turning the historic structure over to the Medina Historical Society. Proceeds from this year’s tour will be donated to the Society, which will use the funds to buy and renovate the home.

The tour is self-guided, and begins at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Liberty Street. This year, for the first time, there is an alternative to the self-guided event – those who prefer may enjoy a narrated tour from the comfort of a bus.

Advance tickets are $20, while those purchased on the day of the tour are $25. The tickets can be purchased at the Medina County Visitors Bureau, Root Candles, Miss Molly’s Tea Room, Cool Beans, or online.

The tour is set for December 8, from 12:00 noon until 6:00 pm. Brochure printing can be used to provide in-depth descriptions of the attractions to be visited at events like this.
