Home tour scheduled in Medina

For the seventh year, Medina residents will have the chance to look inside some of the city's historic homes.

The annual South Court Twilight Stroll Home Tour later this month will allow participants to visit one home on Lafayette Street, one home on South Broadway Street, one home on Wadsworth Road, and three on South Court Street.

Bill Lamb, who lives on South Court Street and is on the city council, said the mix of homes on the tour covers buildings from the 1840s to the 1950s. All the houses on the tour this year are new, while in the past, most of the homes were either Victorian, or Italianate in design, meaning they are styles most people regard as ‘historic’.

This year's homes are a 1949 brick cottage, a California-style bungalow built in 1929, a Craftsman-style home built in 1923, a Greek Revival home dating from the 1840s, an 1887 farmhouse, and a 1951 Colonial Revival house that sits on seven acres. Although the Lambs' house is not on the tour, they have an important building of their own on display – a restored voting building from 1920.

The tour is slated for this Saturday, August 13, from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. Tickets are $15, and are available at Miss Molly's Team Room, and at Cool Beans Café.

Organizers can benefit by working with flyer printing companies, which can Print handouts with information on parking, meeting places, and maps of the neighborhoods involved in various tours.
