Beer lovers enjoy Medina festival

The Weymouth Country Club in Medina was the site recently of the Medina Beer Fest, which drew over 300 people.

The event is Main Street Medina’s biggest annual fundraiser; the organization preserves the economic health and historic characteristics of Medina’s Historic District.

Main Street Medina’s executive director, Matt Wiederhold, said the additional income raised by the festival allows the organization to continue promoting Medina as a place to visit, as well as organizing events that take place on Public Square. According to Wiederhold, the event usually brings in between $3,000 and $4,000, and this year was no exception.

Over 20 breweries had beer for guests to sample. A ticket costing $35 bought a festival attendee ten three-ounce samples of beer, as well as food and a commemorative glass. Designated drivers got a souvenir glass and food for $10.

The event also including a raffle, dancing, games of chance, and music. The winner of the grand prize received a cooler filled with over 60 craft beers.

People came from throughout the region to attend. Cayla and Jacob Bennett, Medina natives who now live in Hermitage, Pennsylvania, made the drive to attend the beer fest. The Bennetts had come to visit Jacob’s mother, and decided the festival was worth checking out, since they both enjoy craft beers.

Festive events like this can be even more fun if organizers work with a banner printing company to create a banner to decorate the venue.
