Kettering encourages its residents to party, and they are taking the city up on its offer.
A Kettering Block Party is set to take place at Fraze Pavilion and in Lincoln Park where residents can celebrate being part of the Kettering community. The party is free of charge and open to the public.
Lincoln Park will be the location of interactive displays and booths where people can visit with representatives of the City of Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts, Volunteer, Economic Development, Engineering, Streets, Planning, Fire, and Police Departments. Partners for Healthy Youth, Kettering City Schools, and the Kettering/Moraine/Oakwood Chamber of Commerce will also have booths in the park.
Also on the schedule are entertainment and food, thanks to the Kettering Volunteer Department. A hot dog roast will give people something fun to eat, and Dilly Bars will be given away for free. Entertainment comes from the musicians of the Kettering Civic Band, who will appear on the Fraze Stage.
One of the most vital parts of the event is the bicycle helmet fitting. As long as supplies last, personnel from Kettering’s Safety Section will provide free fittings of bicycle helmets for children from ages 5 to 16.
The Kettering Block Party takes place May 29, from 6.00 pm until 8.00 pm, with gates opening at 6.00 pm. The band concert is at 7.00 pm. Organizers who plan outdoor events like this often work with banner printing to create sturdy decorations for the occasion.
