An arcade in Kettering has an idea that will no doubt appeal to players—a tournament.
Game Swap in the Dayton suburb of Kettering is launching the inaugural 2022 Arcade Tournament of Champions, which will give fans of arcade games a chance to see if they can learn new games quickly.
According to Game Swap, they plan to use all their machines during the event. Players will be paired up randomly, and they will also be randomly assigned the machines they will play. Players with the best score will win co-op games, while they will have to win two out of three rounds to win fighting games.
The games at the Arcade include Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Zaxxon, Popeye, Centipede, Mr. Pac-Man, Donkey Kong Jr., and Donkey Kong 3. The first-place winner will receive a cash prize, the first pick of arcade merchandise, and a custom trophy. Second place will get second pick as well as a trophy, and the third-place winner will get to pick merchandize third, and a custom trophy. When events like these are planned, organizers sometimes use flyer printing services to create advertising handouts for the local area.
To sign up, players will need to stop by the store. The fee is $5, and further details about the tournaments will be provided upon signing up. The tournament is Sunday, November 6 and Game Swap is at 2294 East Dorothy Lane in Kettering.
