Holiday celebration to raise Kettering cheer

An upcoming event in the Dayton suburb of Kettering will give shoppers a head start on Christmas while also raising funds for a great cause.

A Rosewood Holiday Arts Festival will be held at the Rosewood Arts Center, where people attending the event will be able to get some holiday shopping completed while they explore the center itself.

The festival features art exhibitions, activities, demonstrations, and a chance to visit with the artists themselves. It also is a traditional fundraiser for the ceramics program at the center, the center’s artists, and the Kettering Parks Foundation. People will be able to purchase a hand-made soup bowl (as well as soup to fill it with) at the event or buy a unique Print from the Rosewood Portfolio Exchange. The exchange encourages local artists to bring 10 of their prints to the center and swap them with others.

The Kettering Parks Foundation was founded in 1983 to serve residents by partnering with the City of Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts. Its goals include fundraising to support the programs that help beautify and improve public spaces. It also provides financial assistance to implement cultural programs to enhance life in Kettering.

The center is located at 2655 Olson Drive in Kettering, and the event is scheduled to run from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 7. There is no admission charge for the festival. Organizers can advertise this type of event using Posters created at local Print shops.
