A celebration of the changing seasons is in the air in Athens for this December, bringing residents together for a day of healing and rejuvenation in town.
The Winter Solstice Celebration: Candle Lit Yoga and Sound Bath has announced the official date for those who wish to participate in Athens, providing an evening of respite from the hectic holiday season. The community gathering, which is open to all experience levels, will take participants through a session of gentle yoga followed by a sound bath and light refreshments.
The experience is set for the year’s longest evening, following a tradition set by countless civilizations to mark the date when evenings begin getting shorter. Kojun, an experienced sound healer, will use crystal bowls, chimes, and gongs over a 90-minute session to send soundwaves throughout the host site as a way to heal the nervous system. Organizers can use cost-effective strategies like flyer printing to spread awareness of such events.
Michelle Greenfield will lead the yoga portion of the event, which is expected to run for 60 minutes before transitioning to a 30-minute segment of deep relaxation. Attendees are encouraged to bring a yoga mat and blanket.
BlueDot Coworking in Athens has been announced as the host site, with the event opening at 6:30pm on Sunday, December 20. Tickets can be purchased online for $33.85 per person.
