OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital in Athens is now expanding local access to advanced orthopedic care via robotic-assisted surgery for joint replacement.
Recently the hospital successfully completed its inaugural robotic-assisted cases and is now equipped to provide total hip replacement and partial and total knee replacement procedures. O’Bleness orthopedic surgeon Dr. Sergio Ulloa spoke of his excitement in being able to offer this new level of treatment, describing how the technology would increase precision and help deliver long-lasting and person-centered care.
Much like businesses, hospitals often advertise what they have to offer using brochure printing services.
Robotic-assisted surgery supports guidance during surgery in real-time as well as with advanced planning; however, the surgeon is always in full control throughout the surgery with the technology increasing precision and supporting decision-making. The technology benefits patients by allowing surgeons to better adapt joint replacement to each individual, subsequently increasing the likelihood of a more natural and function joint.
This latest investment in surgical services build on previous ones, including last year’s completion of new modernized operating rooms.
O’Bleness Hospital President LeeAnn Lucas-Helber described the recent addition of robotic-assisted joint replacement as an investment in the community’s health, mentioning the excitement among surgeons and their teams to use these new tools. She also pointed out the benefits to patients of being able to access advanced orthopedic care locally rather than having to travel for their procedure.
