What's Happening in Williston Park, NY…

Movie stars descended on a Williston Park ice cream shop at the beginning of November for a film shoot.

A film crew, led by director Colin Trevorrow, known for his work on ‘Jurassic World’, shot scenes in and outside of Hildebrandt's Restaurant. Naomi Watts, one of the film's stars, plays a waitress who works at the diner and ice cream shop. Watts was particularly enamored by the location and insisted on shooting there. Tom Dunn, the film's location manager, described the setting as "picturesque and beautiful", noting to the Island Now that the setting "looks like small-town America, which is great."

The film, called ‘The Book of Henry’, is the first major motion picture to be shot in the village. Hildebrandt's can use its new fame to draw in customers and even tourists. The restaurant might consider creating a banner noting that it was the scene of a film shoot.

Although ‘The Book of Henry’ might be the first big movie to film in Williston Park, Hildebrandt's is no stranger to attention; in 2011, the Food Network's ‘Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives’ filmed an episode there, which caught the attention of Christopher Menges, another location manager on the film.

A NYU graduate student, Stephanie Donnelly, who is a native to the area, shot a short film there last year as well.
