Walk to Cure Arthritis will take place on Long Island next month. The event is virtual and anyone from Williston Park is welcome to join.
May is Arthritis Awareness Month, and the Arthritis Foundation will host the walk to raise funds and awareness. Over 54 million Americans live with arthritis and deal with pain and challenges daily. Proceeds from the walk will go towards treatment and resources that help those facing the affliction. With this number in mind, participants are asked to donate $54, inform 54 people, and take 54 steps, miles, or minutes of exercise for the event.
Anyone interested in joining can go to the event’s webpage and register as an individual or a team. Participants can then start raising awareness and collecting donations afterward. There are also resources on arthritis online. Registrants can produce these with the help of Print shops to help with fundraising. If participants do not want to walk, they can still support the cause as volunteers. Everyone is also encouraged to post their progress on social media.
The walk will take place on May 16 between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM. Until then, participants can continue to raise funds. Since the event is virtual, entrants can plan out their own routes for the walk. Registration for the event is free but will require an account with the Arthritis Foundation.
