Summer often means good food and family fun, and an upcoming festival in East Meadow, a short drive from Williston Park, aims to provide all that and more.
Holy Trinity Orthodox Church of East Meadow will be the site of the 2019 Summer Family Festival. This is an annual event designed to provide a fun experience for the whole family and give people a chance to enjoy different foods and entertainment.
Bar-be-Que is on the menu, as are Eastern European and Greek foods. There will also be a petting zoo, pony rides, a gift-basket auction, and face painting. Barynya will perform Slavic music live, and in the afternoon, American acoustic music takes over. There is also a raffle with cash prizes, and a flea market. Tours of the church, which was founded in 1924, will also be held throughout the event.
Barynya is a Russian song, music and dance ensemble that was founded in New York City in 1991. The group performs Gypsy Roma, Jewish, Ukrainian, Cossack and Russian traditional music, songs, and dances. It also performs songs using typical Russian instruments like the balalaika contrabass, the garmoshka, and the balalaika. The group has performed in such venues as Carnegie Hall and the Smithsonian Institution.
The festival is set for 10.00 am until 5.00 pm on August 31. The church is on Green Avenue, and admission is free. Banner printing can be used to provide decorations for events like this.
