Nassau Museum to give sketching workshop

The Nassau Museum in Roslyn will give a workshop on sketches. The event will take place online next month, and budding artists from nearby places like Williston Park are welcome to attend.

The workshop is open to artists of all skill levels, even those with no experience producing sketches. Instructors will give different artwork for participants to examine and discuss. Participants will then attempt to recreate the original with their own sketches. Through this process, instructors hope that participants can understand how the original artist created the original work.

Participants can also expect to learn about lines, texture, proportions, and value. The only materials entrants need for the workshop are pencil and paper, but museum organizers welcome other sketching materials entrants want to use. The museum will not be providing materials for the workshop, so entrants will need to obtain their own. Stationery printers usually sell a lot of the materials used in sketching.

The event will take place on March 23rd between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM. Registration is $10 for members, $20 for non-members, and $5 for students. Anyone interested can register on the museum’s website. The workshop will happen on Zoom, and entrants will receive a link before it starts. The Nassau Museum holds these workshops once every month for those interested in partaking long-term or cannot attend March’s workshop.
