Long Island prepares for marathon weekend

Long Island’s Marathon Festival Weekend will return to the region in September. The event will take place at Eisenhower Park, and anyone from Long Island can join, including those from Williston Park.

The race is a 40-year Long Island tradition, having started as a small race for running enthusiasts. Since its humble beginnings, the run has expanded into a weekend-long festival for all communities within Long Island.

Sponsored by Jovia, a local credit union, the event will feature different races throughout its three-day runtime. Entrants sign up for options ranging from a 5K run to a full marathon. Runners looking for a challenge can even sign up for the 35.5 Mile option, which includes a full marathon plus the 5k and 10K runs. Organizers will also prepare a shorter 1K run for children participants.

On each race day, participants can pick up their race packets before their race starts. These packets include bibs and other necessities for the race. After the run, medals will also be awarded to top finishers. For events like these, awards are often made with the help of local printing services.

The festival will happen between September 17th and 19th. Registration for race options can be done online, and pricing will depend on which option participants select. All racecourses will happen within Eisenhower Park, which stretches from Westbury to East Meadow.
