Local museum to hold open house

A museum in the Williston Park area will be holding an open house soon.

Queens County Farm Museum in Floral Park, a short distance from Williston Park, has put its Holiday Open House on the calendar. The farm is open all year, but at the holidays the Adriance Farmhouse is decorated for the season, craft activities for kids are available, and visitors can enjoy mulled cider to help ward off the chill.

The Colonial Farmhouse Restoration Society of Bellerose, Inc., operates the facility, which the New York City Department of Parks owns. The farm museum is a member of the Historic House Trust of New York City. The Farm Museum covers 47 acres, and is New York State's longest continually farmed site, dating back to 1697. In addition, it occupies the biggest remaining tract of farmland in the city. At the Farm Museum, visitors will find an herb garden, an orchard, planting fields, farm implements and vehicles, livestock, a complex of greenhouses, and historic farm buildings.

The Welcome Center has feed for sale, so visitors can feed the goats as they stroll through the historic venue, enjoying learning about farming without having to leave the city.

The Holiday Open House is scheduled for December 26 and 27, starting at 12.00 pm both days. Flyer printing can be used to provide a map and guide for visitors to events like this.
