Holiday events make their way to Williston Park
Over the next few weeks, parts of the Williston Park and New Hyde Park regions will have Thanksgiving and Christmas Tree lighting festivities.
The community of Williston Park will conduct its Annual Fun Run at Kelleher Field at the end of November. The village's Christmas tree lighting event will take place on Sunday, December 3, at the Village Hall starting at 6:30 pm. The St. Aidan's Christmas Choir, with direction from Reagan Stone, will perform, as will the Williston Park Fire Department, who will bring Santa Claus. Banner printing is a popular form of decoration for Christmas parties like this.
For Christmas Eve, the community is also asking for volunteers, especially drivers and Santas, to assist with Operation Santa. Volunteers must commit for about two hours from 5:30 pm. Residents interested in learning more should call Village Hall on 516-746-2193.
The winter concert in Williston Park's gazebo will take place on December 17 from 4:30 pm. The yearly 5K Turkey Trot and Drumstick Dash took place at Devlin Field in East Williston on Thanksgiving morning. All funds from the event will benefit the East Williston Fire Department.
Next Friday, December 1, the village will light its holiday tree on the village green at 7:30 pm. On, Sunday, December 3, the community will have a holiday picture opportunity with Santa. Photographs will be taken with the Fire Department's vintage fire truck between 9:30 am and noon. All revenues from the photos will also be donated to the Fire Department.
