This is part of a statewide grant worth $350m that intends to finance big projects that provide lasting benefits all over Long Island. The projects being funded include the revitalization of downtown areas and several innovative endeavors. According to Governor Kathy Hochul, funding projects such as the research initiatives at the Feinstein Institutes is important for the future health of the region. She added:
“Our investment in the Institute of Bioelectronic Medicine is already improving the lives of everyday New Yorkers, and the additional Long Island Investment Fund award announced today reaffirms our commitment to remaining a national leader in the health and medical research fields.”
Feinstein recently put the finishing touches on a renovation project worth $35m. The 20,000-square-foot lab now has 13 offices, 100 administrative and research workstations, and cold storage rooms. The new lab boasts a biosafety facility to allow the institute to conduct more comprehensive research into complex viruses.
