Classic rockers coming to Williston Park area

A group of classic rock bands are on the way to the Williston Park area to make everyone happy.

The Happy Together Tour is the brainchild of Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman, of the 1960s band The Turtles. The group seemed to embody the West Coast's “sunshine pop” music that was popular in that classic decade, putting their stamp on such hits as “You Showed Me,” and “She'd Rather Be With Me,” and of course “Happy Together,” which has been covered many times, and has been featured in several films.

Kaylan and Volman put together the first Happy Together Tour in 1984, going on the road with contemporary groups such as The Association, and bringing the sounds of the 1960s to new audiences. There has been a number of Happy Together tours since that first effort, and the lineup of bands has changed, with some appearing only once and others participating more frequently. Among the '60s groups that have taken part are Gary Puckett & The Union Gap, The Buckinghams, and The Cowsills.

Joining The Turtles on the current tour are Chuck Negron, The Cowsills, The Vogues, Mark Lindsay, and The Association. Brochure printing can be used to provide programs for events like this. Currently, the artists are scheduled to appear at the NYCB Theatre in Westbury, a short distance from Williston Park, on June 13 at 8.00 pm. People interested in the concert should check with the venue about scheduling.
