What's Happening in Syosset, NY…

Syosset to explore ducks in their natural habitat

While many may think of ducks as being lake and river birds, many species also call the ocean home, and a Syosset session is scheduled to pay them a visit.

The organization Friends of the Bay works to keep Oyster Bay environmentally healthy, and one of its activities will introduce a variety of ducks that can be found out on the Bay. Christine Suter, who is the organization’s interim executive director, will be the educator for the occasion, and a rain date has been set in case of bad weather.

The activity will open with a lecture hosted at the Friends of the Bay headquarters. Following this, attendees will be led outdoors for a walk along Beekman Beach, where they can discuss and share birdwatching tips, and may even be lucky enough to spot some rare species.
It's free to take part, and if the session is full, those who are interested can add their name to the waitlist.

Birdwatching is a hobby that encourages people to get outdoors in an educational and, in this case, social way. Nature journals, promotional pens, and other items for environmental themed activities can be prepared for a function by stationery printers.

This introduction to the species that call the bay home is set to take place on Saturday, February 17. The lecture will begin at 10:00am at 111 South Street, Suite 210, Oyster Bay.
